The Farm Studios – ATMOS Control Room
The Farm Studios holds special significance for MDRN. Both Ryan and Nygel spent their formative years here under producer GGGarth Richardson — not only contributing to the day-to-day operations, but actively making records. That experience provided an intimate understanding of how a control room must function in practice, shaping the perspective they now bring to studio design. Returning to lead what is likely The Farm’s final transformation — the upgrade to a Dolby Atmos control room — was both a professional milestone and a personal full-circle moment.
The new control room design incorporates a precise balance of velocity and pressure trapping, diffraction, and diffusion to achieve an environment that translates equally in classic stereo and Atmos 7.2.4 formats. Imaging remains accurate, and the low end delivers impact with clarity — powerful without compromising definition.
To complement the acoustic architecture, the room features Limbic Media’s Aurora LED system, allowing fully customizable lighting sequences that adapt to mood, workflow, and creative intent.
The result is a space that unites legacy with innovation — one of Vancouver’s most iconic studios, redefined for the demands of immersive audio.
