Song Sparrow Hall
Once again, with a little help from a Creative BC grant, we imposed yet another John H. Brandt acoustic design into this beautiful space, which had formerly served as a place of worship for a local congregation that had recently re-located. This 3200 SF/54,000 Cu.Ft venue offers the Okanagan and Shuswap regions of BC a much needed resource in the facilitation of the arts. Perfectly intimate, while also managing to maintain a certain degree of “vastness’’ typical of the expected concert hall experience, this venue has become a staple “stop-through” destination for bands travelling across Canada and looking for a centre between Edmonton/Calgary and Vancouver – an offering the province of BC had previously fallen short on. It has also become one of the main support venues for artists included on the Roots and Blues Festival and has developed a reputation among bands and promoters for its exceptional acoustic response.
This establishment is a sterling example of what can happen when someone who cares enough about “the arts” is willing to risk their own time and money to feed into it on the level of community. The world is now, in some small way, better for it!
