The Umbrella Factory

Throughout the course of 2023 and 2024, MDRN collaborated with designer Ron Vrmulin of Drgonfly Mobile Recordings to bring his vision to life for acclaimed artist, writer, and producer Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench. This project involved a full redesign and renovation of the studio Josh has long used as his creative home-base.

Central to the new facility is a dramatically expanded tracking room — now more than twice the size of the original — built to accommodate Josh’s signature string orchestrations and powerful percussion arrangements. The space combines scale with precision, offering the versatility required for his broad production style.

The design carries a modern gallery aesthetic, with unique architectural details that give the studio a distinctive identity. Bright, spacious, and equipped with an impressive array of classic gear, the environment is both technically advanced and creatively inspiring — a fitting evolution for an artist of Josh’s calibre.
