The Farm Studios – The Engineers Cabin

Having already been commissioned to design and build the new ATMOS capable control room in the spring of 2022 for long time friend and colleague Garth Richardson we were called back to The Farm Studios in the fall of 2023 to take on a new challenge. The only thing this studio was missing was a space in which you could use the character of the room itself to your advantage while sculpting the sounds on the way in as an engineer.

This out-building that also acts as living quarters for out-of-town bands and engineers was – up until now – an untapped acoustic resource. The combination of a vaulted 21′ ceiling, low end absorption behind an array of reflective surfaces, a randomized wrap around ledge-stone wall, and a detailed LED light design all adds up to assist in placing the artist inside of a rich, immersive sonic environment that inspires creativity, comfort, and captures sounds of a quality unique to this room alone.

We’re all very happy with the outcome of this design and we’re sure any artist or engineer who finds themselves working in this space will say the same.
