NOVA Studios

Supported by a Creative BC grant, the first phase of NOVA Studios’ re-design was completed in 2019. For owners Mike Southworth and Jamie Kuse, this project represented both a rebrand and a reinvention of a facility they had successfully operated for years — but which demanded a new identity and upgraded performance.

Working off the ambitious plans of acoustic designer John H. Brandt, MDRN executed a series of targeted shell modifications alongside a comprehensive acoustic treatment overhaul. The integration of Limbic Media’s Aurora lighting system completed the transformation, creating a space where sound and atmosphere function as one immersive experience.

The result is a control room widely regarded as one of the best-sounding in Vancouver — a space distinguished not only by its accuracy and translation, but also by its unique character.
